Caroline appears like she'll be part of the final season, and I think that Alaric will be showing up a few times as well. (Plus... MYSTIC FALLS and the Saltzman school showed up in the premiere)

Anyone who reads my Vampire Diaries commentary is well aware of how much I love this show. It is officially my all-time favorite and I was very happy and quite satisfied with the finale.
